Julius Caesar, 49-44 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.93 g, 6 h), military mint moving with Caesar in Africa, 48-47. Diademed head of Venus to right, wearing pearl necklace. Rev. CAESAR Aeneas advancing left, carrying palladium in his right hand and Anchises on his left shoulder. Babelon (Julia) 10. Crawford 458/1. CRI 55. RBW 1600. Sydenham 1013. Lustrous, sharply struck and very well centered, an exceptional example. A few minor die breaks, otherwise, virtually as struck.
